I morgon 17.mai vil pave Frans kanonisera Mariam Baouardy saman med fleire andre søstre. Dette er den engelske versjonen av ein hymne skrev i dette høvet, den handlar om Mariam og ei anna palestinsk nonne, Marie Alphonsine grunnleggjar av kongregasjonen Soeur de Rosaire, som og skal kanoniserast i morgon.

Frå "Dossier Canonisation":
"17.mai vil pave Frans kanonisera fleire søstre i trua, mellom dei Den salige Mariam avden krossfesta Kristus - Mariam Baouardy, karmelitt og grunnlegggjar av karmel i Bethlehem og Nazaret. Ei lukkeleg hending, eit teikn på von og oppmuntring til å halda fast på trua for kristne og alle menneske av god vilje både her og i Midt-Austen i desse tidar av vanskar og motgong.
Kanoniseringa er eit høve til å gjera kjent og spreia vidt omkring fruktene av heilagdom i Den austlege kyrkja.  Ei gåve til heile kyrkja og ei utfordring til alle tradisjonar.
Mariam  er ei  "Bru" mellom kyrkjas to lunger, den austlege og den vestlege. Ho møter begge ved å føra tilbake til røtene og innby til fellesskap.
Å vera rotfesta i Kristus og halda fast eg fastlangs ein veg av von, treng begge desse band av brorskap og fellesskap, eit vitnemål om å vera trufast og heilag.
Mariams liv viser oss kva dette tyder i praksis."

 Vi ser fram til morgondagen, ein dag av von og glede for alle i Karmel, for dei hardt pressa kristne i Midt-Austen og alle kristne i den verdensvide kyrkja. Heilage Mariam - be for alle men særleg for dei forfølgde i Syria og Irak !
