Wrecking ball

Teksten er frå "American land" som avsluttar Bruce Springsteens siste album " Wrecking ball" lansert 06.mars i år. Ein sterk tekst som hyllar alle dei  som gjennom historia kom til USA, arbeidde hardt og bygde landet. Dei fekk langt frå alltid den takk dei fortente, heller ikkje i dag, alle dei som "come across the water a thousands miles from home/with nothing in their bellies but the fire down below."
Det er ingen tvil om kvar Bruce Springsteens sympati ligg, det er definitivt ikkje hos profitørar og spekulantar.Han tar hardt i i fleire av melodiane. " He is angry and  accusing in these songs, to the point of exhaustion, with grave reason. The America here is a scorched earth: razed by profiteers, and suffering a shameful erosion in truly democratic values and national charity" skriv anmeldaren i "Rolling stone".
Er det framtidsvon for USA ? Kanskje både og ? Den vakre melodien "Jack of all trades"  skildrar ein desillusjonert arbeidsledig mann som til slutt ikkje lenger har tolmod: "If I had me a gun, I`d find the bastards and shoot `em on sight."  Men så finn vi også  mykje  av det motsatte i "Land of hope and dreams"  og ikkje minst i "We are alive" som sluttar slik:

and though our bones lie alone here in the dark
out souls and spirits rise
to carry the fire and light the spark
to fight shoulder to shoulder and heart to heart
to stand shoulder to shoulder and heart to heart
