Teresa: "Let nothing trouble you."

28.mars feirar vi 500 års jubileet for Teresa fødsel i Avila 1515. Karmelittane i England-Irland markerar det mellom anna med å gje ut ei vakker lite bok om Teresa: "Let nothing trouble you" med undertittel:"Teresa: The woman, the guide and the storyteller." (The Columba press 2015)                 
Forfattar er den irske karmelittbroder Eugene McCaffrey OCD. Boka vert innleia med ein kort biografi inkludert oversikt over alle 17 klostera Teresa grunnla, kart over Spania med alle klostera plotta inn får oss betre til å forstå kor mykje ho rakk over i si levetid. Vidare gjev McCaffrey ei summarisk oversikt over Teresas bøker og brev, til slutt skriv han om kva ho kan bety for vår tid.
"Mystic and contemplative are the terms usually associated with Teresa but she was also an immensly practical and capable woman, which makes her very much a saint for our times. She lived parallel lives: she was an astute businesswoman and negotiator, yet she explored uncharted regions of the spirit and was able to record with grace and precision the wondrous beauty of the inner castle of our soul." 
Få har vel som Teresa kombinert  "Martha og Maria " i ein person. Når ein les om henne og  les tekstane hennar, blir ein grep av ei sterk lyst til å møta henne, denne kvinna med så stor innsikt i alle livets områder og trass i sviktande helse ein enorm arbeidskapasitet. Ekstatisk mystikar og samstundes jordnær, humoristisk med stort sosialt talent ! Difor vert ho også hugsa, og vi feirar 500 års dagen hennar med stor takksemd.
Elizabeth Hamilton har skreve eit dikt "To Teresa" som på ein vakker og enkel måte set ord på akkurat dette:

"They will remember you.
They will forget the bishops and the archbishops,
the theologians and the Grand Inquisitor,
but they will remember the nun in the patched habit
who was gracious and gay
and had no use for long-faced saints.
And other coming after in other countries
and in other age will marvel,
looking back across the centuries,
at how this woman, who while still on earth,
had foretaste of the joys of heaven,
was no less human than themselves."

Eit lite kort eg fekk frå  karmelittane i England, på baksida Teresas mest kjente bøn "Nada te turbe", også kjent som  Teresas bokmerke avdi ho hadde skreve den ned på ein lapp som vart funne i breviaret etter hennar død.
